Rather, they represent a goal that can only be achieved with the help of another triplicity: persistence, attention and demand. This vision is based on the premise that culture is not a selfish practice, but a conversation. A conversation that should take place between artists and their audience, between artists and their region. The road is long but, step by step, Sinfonietta de Braga is endeavouring to make this conversation more and more intimate, in which it will share with all audiences the essence of the best music that has ever been written and the best music that is being created today, always with the utmost care and respect for the quality it demands.

Enjoying, respecting and learning from what has come before, the Braga Sinfonietta thus shares an ambition to explore the identity and fertility of our cultural milieu. This ambition arises from the belief that, in addition to celebrating the past, cultural practice also consists of projecting a future heritage, capable of immortalising a portrait of the best that is cultivated in our times. Just as an orchestra uses musical instruments, the instruments of the Braga Sinfonietta, in this ambition, are the artists of extraordinary potential who are currently being trained. For its part, the Sinfonietta aims to become an instrument for our region, and thus contribute to the affirmation of its cultural identity.

Sinfonietta de Braga represents a symbiosis of ambitions, desires for sharing and quality, combined with a tireless quest to develop the region’s musical culture, while simultaneously boosting the artistic careers of professional musicians.

Sinfonietta has played an important role in enhancing the profession of musician, seeking to fill the gaps in a national labour market that has not been able to respond to their natural path after higher education, always striving for professionalism and for valuing the potential of its artists.

In recent years, the Braga Sinfonietta has stood out for its remarkable work in Braga’s cultural paradigm. This role has been recognised by the Municipality of Braga’s Culture Department, which has invested in Sinfonietta as a partner in the city’s cultural development. In its various years of activity, Sinfonietta has had the opportunity to organise concerts in various parts of the country and in different musical contexts, performing with international soloists such as Eliot Walton Lawson, Anton Martynov, and musicians from the Braga region such as the great oboist Samuel Bastos, soprano Rita Morais and guitarist Artur Caldeira.
